Congressman Carter Statement on the Passing of Former Louisiana Congressman and Governor Buddy Roemer

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman Troy A. Carter (LA-02) issued the following statement following the passing of former Louisiana Congressman and Governor Buddy Roemer.

“I am deeply saddened to hear the news of Buddy Roemer’s passing. I join our entire state in mourning the loss of a revered public servant. Buddy’s intellect was unmatched, demonstrated during his tenure as a public servant and his business acumen thereafter. His free thinking approach to legislating allowed him to accomplish several legislative feats including reforming campaign financing and increasing teacher pay. In addition to his legislative accomplishments, Buddy was also instrumental in pulling Louisiana out of one of the worst financial crisis in years.

I hope all of the people of Louisiana will join Ana and I in praying for Governor Roemer’s family, especially his wife Scarlett and his three children, his many friends and the people of the 2nd Congressional District.
