Congressman Carter Statement on Israeli Prime Minister’s Joint Address
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman Troy A. Carter Sr. (D-LA) released the following statement after the Israeli Prime Minister gave a joint address to Congress:
“As a member of Congress, it is my responsibility to attend when we meet in joint session, whether I agree with a person’s viewpoint or not. Today I met with Israeli hostage families who are in agony not knowing whether their loved ones are dead or alive. I can’t imagine what that feels like.
“I strongly condemn the far right-wing settler ministers in the Netanyahu government who appear to be standing in the way of a deal to release the hostages and achieve a ceasefire in Gaza for electoral reasons. This is amoral. I continue to call for a bilateral ceasefire in the Middle East with the goal of achieving peace.”
