Congressman Carter Statement on Government Funding Bill

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman Troy A. Carter Sr. (D-LA) released the following statement after voting NO on House Republicans’ government funding bill:

“House Republicans have chosen to push through a partisan government funding bill that guts health care coverage. As Louisiana families are being squeezed by higher costs, Republicans refuse to stop double-digit hikes in their health insurance premiums. I will continue to push against this GOP-created crisis by fighting to cancel the cuts, lower the cost, and save YOUR health care.

“Remember, Republicans control the House, Senate, and White House. If the government shuts down, it will be because Congressional Republicans failed to govern responsibly, negotiate in good faith, and craft a bipartisan funding agreement.”
