Congressman Carter Secures $1.2 Million for Career Pathways Program in Southeast Louisiana

NEW ORLEANS, LA – Today, Congressman Troy A. Carter, Sr. (LA-02) joined the Urban League of Louisiana to announce a $1,200,000 grant for apprenticeships and pre-apprenticeships through the Career Pathways Program.

“Apprenticeships and pre-apprenticeship programs have a critical role in bridging the skills gap and fostering economic growth,” said Rep. Carter. “Urban League of Louisiana’s Career Pathways Program offers hands-on training and real-world experience, equipping individuals with the expertise needed for high-demand industries. By investing in apprenticeships, we create pathways to well-paying jobs, reduce unemployment, and support local businesses with a skilled workforce. This funding ensures that all individuals, including underserved communities, have the opportunity to prepare for valuable career opportunities, promoting inclusivity and economic resilience. This is an investment in Louisiana’s future.”

This funding was made possible by federal appropriations Community Project Funding that Congressman Carter previously secured for Louisiana’s Second Congressional District. These community projects were selected after conducting comprehensive outreach to local groups and stakeholders. This initiative is coupled with stringent eligibility, ethics, and transparency requirements.

Since 2023, the Urban League successfully implemented Apprenticeship Programs for careers including Automobile Service Technician, Construction, and Cybersecurity.  With this new funding, we can expand these efforts significantly.”
