Congressman Carter Reacts to Supreme Court Decision Upholding Two Majority-Minority Congressional Districts in Louisiana
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Troy A. Carter, Sr. (D-LA) released the following statement in response to United States Supreme Court ordering Louisiana to hold congressional elections in 2024 using the House map with two majority-minority congressional districts:
“Tonight’s Supreme Court's decision is a pivotal moment for justice in Louisiana and beyond. Reapportionment dictates that our state should have two majority-minority congressional districts. MATH IS MATH! This will help guarantee fair representation for all our communities, support electoral integrity, and acknowledges the need for equitable redistricting and eliminating systemic disenfranchisement. This is the right thing to ensure democratic integrity and equal representation for all Louisianians.”
