Congressman Carter Hosts Informative River Parishes Town Hall Meetings
LOUISIANA – This week, Congressman Troy A. Carter, Sr. (D-LA) held two informative Town Halls at the Iberville Parish Library and the Lemann Memorial Community Center where he made a clear commitment to fight back against harmful Trump Administration policies. The events were widely attended, including by community leaders and local elected officials.
“We’re here tonight because the stakes are high. From health care to immigration, from environmental protections to voting rights, the Trump Administration is pushing an agenda that put profits over people and power over fairness. One of the most damaging examples was their relentless attack on Medicaid—proposing over $880 billion in cuts that will strip health care from millions of Americans. These cuts aren’t just numbers on a spreadsheet—they mean shuttered hospitals, overwhelmed nursing homes, and families left without critical care. And all of it, why? To hand out massive tax breaks to billionaires and the largest corporations. That kind of policymaking isn’t just misguided—it’s immoral. It puts our elderly, our children, and our most vulnerable neighbors in danger. We cannot, we will not sit idly by,” said Rep. Carter.
