Congressman Carter Announces the Designation of Delgado Community College as a Center of Excellence for Domestic Maritime Workforce Training and Education
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman Troy A. Carter (LA-02) announced that the U.S. Department of Transportation, Maritime Administration has designated Delgado Community College as a Center of Excellence for Domestic Maritime Workforce Training and Education (CoE).
The CoE program was established by Congress under Title 46 of the U.S. Code.
“It is with great pride that I announce the designation of Delgado Community College as a Center of Excellence for Domestic Maritime Workforce Training and Education,” said Congressman Carter. “This designation recognizes Delgado Community College’s continued commitment to ensuring their graduates are prepared for a career in the maritime industry. I am privileged to have an institution within my district that values academic excellence and prioritizes job preparedness for their graduates. Delgado Community College utilizes superior education to train graduates and equip the maritime industry with qualified graduates fortified with the tools necessary for success. I am honored to recognize them with this designation.”

This designation for Delgado Community College, located in New Orleans, Louisiana is a recognition of the College’s commitment to strengthening the Maritime Industry through industry-aligned career pathway development, providing high-quality, standards-based mariner workforce training for hundreds of employers, internationally. This designation will further solidify Delgado's Maritime and Industrial Training Center, as a world-class facility.
